82ND ANNUAL OZARK EMPIRE FAIR

Where: Ozark Empire Fairgrounds
August 1st is Military day at the fair where service members can get in free all day. It’s also free ride day. You can stop by any Price Cutter to grab some free ride tickets. August 2nd and 3rd is the Hardee’s Extreme Invitational Rodeo. Also on the 2nd and 3rd you can see the Axe Women Loggers of Maine. On the 4th, check out the Ozark Thunder Outlaw Truck & Tractor Pull!

What’s happening in the largest school district in Missouri? This special edition of Good Morning, Springfield, held in August each year, highlights Springfield Public Schools and the innovative programs it uses to bring out the best in students, teachers and staff. Presented by the district superintendent with presentation support from the Springfield Public Schools Communications team. TajMo: The Taj Mahal & Keb’ Mo’ Band
“We wanted to do a real good record together, but we didn’t want to do the record that everyone expected us to do,” blues legend Taj Mahal says of TajMo, his historic collaboration with fellow true believer Keb’ Mo’. “There wasn’t a bunch of cryin’ and ringin’ hands, we just got together and it came together pretty naturally. I think it’s a pretty upbeat, celebratory record, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.”

ROUTE 66 FESTIVAL & CAR SHOW
When: August 10-11, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Where: Park Central Square
Now in its eighth year, the Birthplace of Route 66 Festival returns to celebrate Springfield as the city where the nation’s first cross-country highway originated. In the spirit of tradition, this year’s events include a two-day car and motorcycle show, an appropriately themed 6.6K run, Route 66–related exhibits, a parade and more. Several local, regional and national musicians are also scheduled to perform. Don’t forget to check out historic points of interest along the Mother Road located throughout the Queen City.

Cohort 3 of the efactory’s accelerator program has been hard at work for twelve weeks. Join us to hear their final pitches at Demo Day on August 13. Three companies will have ten minutes each to update community members on their progress and next steps. Demo Day will be held upstairs at the efactory.

Becky will share her wealth of information about the types and care of these lovely bloomers. Becky’s programs are always an informative and fun addition to the Learn To Grow In the Garden Series.

Head to the Southeast corner of Battlefield Mall parking lot, and arrive hungry! Some of the tastiest food trucks from around 417-land are gathering for a full day of slinging tacos, sweetening snow cones and eating outside in the sunshine. As of press time, there were five trucks slated to attend with the possibility of more to come. On the list so far: Not’cho Ordinary Taco Truck, Davalon, Sno Ballz, Twisted Mike’s and London Calling Pasty Company. Check the events tab on Battlefield Mall’s Facebook page for updates.
