August 1st is Military day at the fair where service members can get in free all day. It’s also free ride day. You can stop by any Price Cutter to grab some free ride tickets. TajMo: The Taj Mahal & Keb’ Mo’ Band

ROUTE 66 FESTIVAL & CAR SHOW

Now in its eighth year, the Birthplace of Route 66 Festival returns to celebrate Springfield as the city where the nation’s first cross-country highway originated. In the spirit of tradition, this year’s events include a two-day car and motorcycle show, an appropriately themed 6.6K run, Route 66–related exhibits, a parade and more. Several local, regional and national musicians are also scheduled to perform. Don’t forget to check out historic points of interest along the Mother Road located throughout the Queen City.

FOOD TRUCK MINI SERIES

Where: Battlefield Mall Southeast Corner
Head to the Southeast corner of Battlefield Mall parking lot, and arrive hungry! Some of the tastiest food trucks from around 417-land are gathering for a full day of slinging tacos, sweetening snow cones and eating outside in the sunshine. As of press time, there were five trucks slated to attend with the possibility of more to come. On the list so far: Not’cho Ordinary Taco Truck, Davalon, Sno Ballz, Twisted Mike’s and London Calling Pasty Company. Check the events tab on Battlefield Mall’s Facebook page for updates.
